Our Human Resources group provides advice and support to the organisation on a range of matters including capability building, recruitment, performance development, training and development and employment relations.
Archives New Zealand employs approximately 128 people across its four offices, with the majority being employed in Wellington. The core activities of the department are carried out by professional archival staff including archivists, archives analysts and preservation specialists. There are also a number of support staff employed in various roles. Archives New Zealand is one of the largest employers of professional archival staff in New Zealand, particularly of archivists. This presents some challenges in terms of establishing appropriate remuneration and developing training opportunities.
Human Resources has been working on a number of projects including a new Human Resources on-line policy manual, Performance Development System, and Recordkeeping Competency Framework.
