This website has been developed to showcase a fraction of the almost 12 kilometres of records held in the Christchurch repository of Archives New Zealand. It contains virtual exhibitions on specific themes, such as The Fabric Of Christchurch 1850 — 1880, as well as galleries of digitised archives on different topics. Examples include the Farrago Gallery, which contains a random miscellany of images and documents from the whole of our collection, and Kā puna kōrero o Kāi Tahu, which contains images of selected public archives relating to Ngāi Tahu communities in Canterbury and Westland. New items are being attached to these galleries every week. You can also access Digital Schools for on-line and downloadable material for year 13 History classes.
This exhibition aims to highlight items in the collections held at the Dunedin Regional Office of Archives New Zealand. The Dunedin Office holds records from both Otago and Southland covering most Government agencies.
