Definitions

Public office:

  1. means the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the Government of New Zealand; and

  2. means the agencies or instruments of those branches of government; and

  3. includes (without limiting the agencies or instruments):

    1. departments as defined in section 2 of the State Sector Act 1988; and
    2. Offices of Parliament as defined in section 2(1) of the Public Finance Act 1989; and
    3. State enterprises as defined in section 2 of the State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986; and
    4. Crown entities as defined in section 7(1) of the Crown Entities Act 2004; and
    5. the Parliamentary Counsel Office; and
    6. the Parliamentary Service; and
    7. the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives; and
    8. the New Zealand Police; and
    9. the New Zealand Defence Force; and
    10. the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service; and
    11. any person or class of persons declared by an Order in Council made under section 5(1)(a)(i) to be a public office for the purposes of this Act.
