Archives New Zealand provides an interesting and rewarding working environment to approximately 90 staff in its head office in Wellington, as well as regional offices in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin. Team members are passionate about the organisation and the heritage documents we hold.
Staff at Archives New Zealand make up a dynamic team of professional archival staff, and support staff, all contributing to the organisation's two main roles: ensuring governments' activities are recorded and the records are kept permanently: and providing access to these records.
Archives New Zealand provides staff with development opportunities to ensure ongoing career development and enhancement. Our unique staff Performance Development System includes an annual Training and Development Plan to address professional development needs and career aspirations. The Performance Development System is linked to a market rates driven remuneration system. Our strategic direction will see Archives New Zealand widen current capabilities by recruiting and developing expertise in new areas such as electronic records.
We provide a supportive and safe working environment and ensure that staff work in comfortable surroundings, free from harassment of any kind. As part of our health and safety framework, we are developing a 'wellness' policy which includes the provision of free flu vaccinations.
Many staff utilise our flexible working hours provisions, and we have a number of other policies such as an EEO policy and smoke-free policy that make Archives New Zealand an attractive working environment.
